2012 Student Scholarship Tournamentby Kathy Rolfe
Ten Students and 2 ineligible adults played 15 boards in a 3 table Howell movement at the Unit 131 Student Scholarship Tournament on April 28 in Lee’s Summit, MO. Kate and Patrick Caughron finished first with a 56.67% game and .98 masterpoints. Coming in behind them were Johanna and Michaella Gordon with a 50% game for .74 masterpoints. You may remember Kate and Patrick from earlier tournaments (they won the student tournament in 2010 as well) or from playing against them at the Bridge Studio or in Columbia, MO at the Sectional Tournament. Johanna and Michaella have only been playing bridge for 2 months! Directing the students was Dorothy Johnson. Each of the winners received a trophy provided by Unit 131 and they each received $50 College Scholarships provided through the Eugene J. Rolfe Memorial Education Fund administered by the Truman Heartland Community Foundation.
